PE at the Beach

With the weather getting a little bit cheerier we decided to take a quick dip in the sea but opted for neoprene in deference to the season. We forgot to take a thermometer so we cannot be sure of the temperature, but, https://www.seatemperature.org suggests that Southend-on-Sea currently has seawater at 18.1 degrees Celcius. All the same it seemed more like 15 to us. We managed a quarter of an hour swimming and collected some sea glass and pebbles with holes for craft activities.

French teacher Dad and I have been translating French podcasts on Duolingo. The one we are translating is called The Bread Magician and it is about a baking competition in Paris, however I think that Mum's Apple cake is better. Ou en francais, je pense que le gâteau de ma mère est le meilleur.

The Vexed Question of Percentages

Image
So, Jules and I have been working on some maths this week. Mostly its been about understanding how percentages, decimals and even ratios are all kinds of fractions. In th photo above Jules is working out the percentage change for items that have gone up in price and what she would have to multipy the original price by to get to the final price. She is cracking through these independently now which is pretty good for last thing on a Friday.

Science: Knitted Bacteria Today I finished my model of a unicellular organism, we thought that the best way to do this was to knit a model of a bacteria and label it with stickers. The project took us a few lessons but we are happy with the out come. Science teacher mum thought that making a model would be a good idea and I suggested that I use my knitting skills to do so.
